There are a number of other opportunities that are available to give you international experience and boost your CV. You can apply for these independently.

University of Tokyo Internship Program (UTRIP) (Japan)

Open to undergraduate students in the science faculty, this opportunity is an intensive summer research programme at the University of Tokyo. You also participate in a short course of Japanese language and culture.

Vulcanus (Japan)

This programme gives EU students the chance to learn Japanese for four months followed by an eight month traineeship in a Japanese company with the hope that it will lead you to be well placed for a future career to build relationships with Japanese businesses. This 12 month programme is open to students from Science and Engineering faculties.  Following Brexit it is unlikely that UK nationals will be able to continue to participate in this programme.

The Fulbright Commission

InternChina

InternChina is an agency based in the cities of Qingdao, Zhuhai and Chengdu in China and arranges internship placements, which can also be combined with Chinese language courses and a homestay with a Chinese family. The programs are a great way to really immerse yourself in the Chinese culture and get relevant work experience at the same time. As InternChina is based primarily in China, with European and Chinese staff on place, they are able to arrange top quality placements and accommodation at an affordable price. You'll receive support from European staff on place during your stay. The placement which InternChina arrange are open to students of all subjects and no prior knowledge of China or the Chinese language is required.
