Three Minute Thesis Competition

main content

The 3MT® concept was developed by the University of Queensland, Australia and has spread to universities around the world. The challenge is for researchers to explain the complexity and relevance of their research to a non-specialist audience in a concise and engaging way. Presenters have a maximum of three minutes to pitch their research and can only use one slide.

Taking part in this competition will help you

  • improve your public speaking skills
  • build your confidence
  • share your research with a wider audience (including possible funders, media and collaborators)
  • promote yourself and your research

There are also cash prizes to win!

All doctoral students (PhD or Professional Doctorate) who are registered as full-time, part-time, distance learning, industry-based, writing up or waiting to sit your viva at 19 June 2021 are eligible to enter the competition.
