Contractor Balfour Beatty has been appointed to build the University of Strathclyde’s £60m Learning and Teaching building.

The Learning & Teaching building is the University’s largest single investment in a capital project and will incorporate the refurbished and repurposed Colville and Architecture buildings on North Portland Street. This development is part of a £650m investment in campus infrastructure over the current decade.

Facilities provided in the new Learning & Teaching building include:

  • New large-scale teaching spaces and a learning village for individual study
  • Student-facing support services
  • Modern, purpose built accommodation for the University of Strathclyde Students’ Association.

Work is due to get underway in the early autumn and the building is due to be completed by summer 2020.
