Oor Wullie, one of Scotland’s favourite comic creations, made a dazzling appearance at the University of Strathclyde yesterday (May 14).

The University will host one of 200 unique sculptures of the famous DC Thomson comic character between 17 June and 30 August as part of Oor Wullie’s BIG Bucket Trail, Scotland’s first ever national public art trail, which will raise vital funds for children in hospitals across Scotland.

An App will show the location of all the statues in Scotland which will be auctioned off at the end of the event.

Funds raised though the trail will go to Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity, Edinburgh Children’s Hospital Charity and the ARCHIE Foundation, helping children in hospitals across Scotland.

The unique design located at Strathclyde, and the name of the artist who created it, will be revealed on 15 June outside the University’s new £31m Strathclyde Sport centre.
