An exhibition of entries to the University of Strathclyde’s annual Images of Research competition will go on tour around the West of Scotland from 15 June.
The competition showcases the diversity and impact of the research being undertaken across the University community.
This year’s competition, The Future in Focus, celebrates the University’s new strategic themes with a category devoted to each:
- Health and Wellbeing
- Advanced Manufacturing and Materials
- Ocean, Air and Space
- Society and Policy
- Innovation and Entrepreneurship,
- Measurement Science and Enabling Technologies.
A week-long exhibition of the 41 shortlisted entries was launched at Engage with Strathclyde – the University’s flagship public engagement event in May – and was warmly received by the public.
Voting for Images of Research is still open for the public to choose their favourite image with the overall winner and runners-up announced at a reception in Drygate Brewery on Thursday 15 June at 5:30pm.
The images will be on display at Drygate until 18 June as part of the Glasgow Science Festival before going on a 12-month tour of the West of Scotland and visiting the European Parliament in November.
The images can also be seen on panels alongside the Clyde at the Science Centre from August.
Janine Capaldi, Knowledge Engagement Officer at the University of Strathclyde, said: “The images on display at this exhibition illustrate the different ways in which research at the University of Strathclyde is supporting new products and services, informing decision-making, influencing policy, improving health and supporting sustainable economic growth.”
