Strathclyde has made a strategic investment to support the development of impact from any discipline. A number of funding schemes enable academics to further their research; some of these can be used for collaborative projects with industry, including those below.
Impact Acceleration Account (IAA)
In addition to the University’s investment, Strathclyde has been awarded a total of £2.6 milllion by the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC) to support the development of impact from its EPSRC-funded research. The current tranche runs until the end of March 2017.
The IAA provides a number of mechanisms to support organisations in accessing University research, including New Organisation Engagement which provides funding for feasibility-type studies, and the Secondment mechanism which supports researchers and/or company employees to spend time within the partner organisation. Projects must be linked to EPSRC-funded research.
Santander Internship Programme
The University has forged a partnership with the Santander Universities Global Division to offer funded, short-term recruitment opportunities for local businesses. The programme enables businesses to recruit final year students and recent graduates for a three-month period.
Santander contributes 50% of the funding with the remainder being funded by either the University, the SME or both.
