First CIS PGR Conference: Held on 12th November 2025
Organised by CIS PGR students, Claire Rogers (Conference Chair), with David Emmanuel, Aathika Abdul Salam, and Reka Watthage (Programme Committee Chairs), and Asmaa Alqadri (Publication Chair), the conference brought together 11 papers and 23 posters from across the department for a full day of discussion, networking, and collaboration. Submissions reflected the breadth of CIS research, including 12 from the iSchool, 11 from the AI Research Group, 3 from StrathCyber, 4 from Mathematically Structured Programming, 3 from the Digital Health & Wellness Group (DHaWG), and 1 from the Educational Research Group.
Our thanks go to the Departmental Executive Committee and the CIS PGR Committee for their support, and special thanks to Professor Martin Halvey, Dr Christine Davidson for their opening talks, Dr Damien Anderson, and Dr Alastair Andrew for their inspiring keynote speeches, as well as all the paper and poster presenters for their engaging presentations throughout the day. Thanks also to everyone who helped make the conference happen, from reviewing to attending. Additionally, thanks to StrathLab, The Union, and the CIS Office team for their assistance in delivering a seamless event, and to all attendees and contributors who helped make the day such a success.
TechFair: Held on 12th November 2025
On Level 11 we hosted the TechFair for the second successive year. There was a lively atmosphere on the day with a swathe of employers and many eager students looking to speak to them. A particular thanks to Will Bell and colleagues in the office for helping make arrangements for the day. It really benefits our students and department.

Summer Graduation Ceremony
The CIS Graduation Ceremony was held on Wednesday 25th June and various colleagues represented the department in the Academic Procession. The ceremony was a joyous celebration of our Undergraduate, Taught Masters, MPhil and PhD students’ achievements during their studies over the last 3 – 5 years.
Missing from the picture is Dr Alex Coddington who was the Student Presenter – Alex had been whisked away at this point to take all the student no-shows off her presentation script.
You can watch the ceremony back on the University Graduation YouTube channel via https://youtu.be/GduVBxEBR8c?si=8acs05-BBKAkyU46 if you had students graduating and you weren’t part of the Academic Procession.
