Why did you choose to study at Strathclyde?

I came across Strathclyde while doing my research into my options for studying in Scotland. It was high on the relevant university rankings that I was looking at and fit my criteria at the time.

Strathclyde is considered one of the best engineering universities in Scotland and has a strong connection with industry.  The main deciding factor was definitely my university open day visit in 2019. I really liked the campus and the facilities I got the see.

What did you enjoy most on your course?

The course covers a wide range of topics from the start.  This has been challenging, but has provided me with a broad overview, that will be invaluable for my career as an engineer.

Have you had any placements or internships during your studies, or had a chance to work on industry projects during your studies?

I am on track to continue my second internship with AMD in Edinburgh, who provide a bespoke mechanical and electrical design and build service. I’m extremely fortunate to be able to work and learn there and the fact that the Strathclyde’s Software Defined Radio (StrathSDR) research group works incredibly closely with them is certainly helpful.

I have a Strathclyde Sport membership and try and use it to it’s fullest potential.

Royal College and its maze of corridors is probably my most frequented building. I used the labs as part of my course and also while working on my projects with StrathSEDS.

The new student’s union building is also one of my favourite places. The Terrace keeps its menus fresh, while keeping in mind the student budget. Although it can get a bit busy during peak hours, it’s a very vibrant and lively space for socialising and studying.

Have you used many of the facilities that Strathclyde has on offer to students?

I really enjoy the Andersonian Library as a study space, but the Livingstone Tower with its many small rooms is my favourite to study with some of my pals.

What has been your favourite thing about studying at Strathclyde?

This is definitely StrathSEDS for me. This platform solidified my passion for mission critical and general space engineering, and being involved in the group has been a great addition to my studies.

Through StrathSEDS I got to develop cutting edge projects for our High Power Rocketry team and also learned a lot about leadership as the Electronics Team Lead for 2 years.

What do you think of Glasgow/Scotland and what is your favourite thing about living here?

From the first time I visited in 2019 I was convinced that this was the place I want to study in. I love to hike as a hobby and together with my friends have explored a lot of the highlands, bagging quite a few munros along the way.

Glasgow is a great city to live in. The night life is vibrant and there’s always something to do. I have been welcomed by the local community, which at this point feels like a home.

As a bisexual person I was also very happy to find a very large and welcoming LGBT community both in the city and on campus. I have had the opportunity to meet a lot of incredible people.
