Design, Manufacture & Engineering ManagementRegina Cseh: How it felt to move

Moving away from London, a busy capital city with a population of over 8 million, to Glasgow was certainly a big transition - especially considering that I went from working life back to university.

I had lots of things that I was anxious thinking about - As a mature student my future course mates were going to be almost 10 years younger than me, which concerned me to an extent and I was also curiously awaiting to find out if anyone else from abroad would also attend my course.

Luckily, I was greeted with a supportive and welcoming environment and all of my worries disappeared.

Finding an apartment was a simple task as well thanks to the numerous flat share websites and apps. There are also lot of private and university student halls available within a few minutes’ walk from the campus, so the options were big and wide!

Here are a couple of pictures of my first flat in Glasgow:

I found that arriving in and moving to Glasgow some time before the start of the term was certainly a good idea. It enabled me to get settled and make sure that I came prepared to my first day on the programme.

Thankfully Glasgow has so much to see and do in it, for example I visited Glasgow Cathedral which is only a few minutes walk from the University of Strathclyde campus:

I was also able to find lots of green space, parks and quiet areas in the city centre, such as the Glasgow Botanic Gardens and Pollok Country Park:
