Three PhD student pass their viva in summer/autumn 2021

We are pleased to announce that PhD students David Bryce, Mariusz Kucharek and Kaibao Wang have successfully defended their theses.

Supervised by Prof Jim Thomason, David completed his exam in August 2021. The title of his thesis is “Investigation of a Micromechanical Methodology for Assessing the Influence of Processing Variables and Fibre Sizing on Composite Interphase”. David has remained with the ACG and is working as an RA on a major wind turbine recycling consortium project funded by Innovate UK and Aker Offshore Wind.

Mariusz and Kaibao were both supervised by ACG Director Dr Liu Yang. Mariusz successfully defended his thesis “Investigation of Key Challenges Facing Aerogel Composites Development Through Multiscale Approach” in October 2021. Kaibao defended his thesis “Novel development of eco-friendly porous thermal insulation materials and the application” in November. We wish them both well as they continue their careers out with the ACG and Strathclyde.
