Continuing professional developmentPressure Vessel Design-by-Analysis

Content

This two-day course introduces the concepts and practice of Design-by-Analysis, in the context of design checks contained in the EN 13445, PD 5500, ASME III and ASME VIII Division 2 pressure vessel codes.

The delegates are introduced to the scope and purpose of the DBA rules, basic concepts in pressure vessel design, ductile failure mechanisms (limit, plastic collapse and ratchetting), instability and buckling, and fatigue failure of welded structures.

Pressure Vessel DBA guidelines are explained, and practical design procedures such as stress linearisation, weld hot-spot stress procedures, linear and non-linear buckling, are described in detail.
