Offshore Engineering Institute

The University of Strathclyde has a long and distinguished record for training and research in the area of marine and offshore engineering across the Faculty of Engineering.  The recent rapid growth in offshore wind coupled with major changes to the established upstream Offshore Oil & Gas sector has prompted the formation of the Strathclyde Offshore Engineering Institute.

Our aim is to provide a focus for offshore engineering research bringing together multidisciplinary researchers both from across the University of Strathclyde and our industry/academic partners applied to Offshore Wind, Marine Energy, Upstream Oil & Gas along with other emerging offshore engineering sectors.  The Institute cuts across university Departments, Institutes and Centres and its members have deep, world-leading expertise in subjects ranging from marine hydrodynamics, materials and structural integrity in the marine environment through to electrical control systems, instrumentation for condition and health monitoring.  The combined capacity and capability of the Offshore Engineering Institute makes it a major centre for thought leadership for contemporary and emerging engineering solutions for offshore energy and marine renewables.
