Qualtrics is a user friendly, web-based, interface for creating and distributing online, self-completion questionnaire surveys, monitoring participants’ responses, and downloading data into numerous software packages, including those statistical analysis packages that we use as standard in both our teaching and research (for example Excel, SPSS/PASW).
The software:
- provides over 90 question types for use in online questionnaires, allowing more sophisticated research to be conducted.
- The order in which questions are presented to participants can be randomised, which reduces responding biases and thus provides more valid data.
- Downloading survey data does not cost extra with Qualtrics.
- Surveys can be made to look more professional with Qualtrics, with it being possible to amend the look and feel of a questionnaire and add the University logo very easily and for no extra cost.

Basic technological requirements to use Qualtrics are minimal: Internet access, basic computer skills and a modern web browser with JavaScript enabled.

- No Confidential Information: You must not enter any University personal data (e.g., student or staff data) or any other confidential information (including research/course materials) into the AI tool.
- Accuracy Not Guaranteed: AI-generated content may be inaccurate. You are responsible for checking accuracy and ensuring academic integrity.
- Usage for Training: The AI provider may use the data which you have entered to improve their models. Do not assume that your data remains confidential.
