AFRC strengthens its partnership with SMAS

The Advanced Forming Research Centre (AFRC) is pleased to announce that it will be sponsoring this year’s Scottish Manufacturing Advisory Service (SMAS) conference.

The conference will be primarily held in the Westerwood Hotel in Glasgow on 7 to 8 September 2016.

The AFRC will be inviting delegates to visit the centre for tours on the first day of the conference as part of the ‘best practice visits’ programme.

Following that, on the 8 September, as part of the main conference, the research centre will be hosting an innovation workshop with guest speaker Alan Norbury, Central Technology Officer at Siemens.

The silver sponsorship package will see the AFRC take centre stage alongside other sponsors such as the Bank of Scotland and the High Value Manufacturing Catapult.

Michael Ward, technical director at the AFRC, said:

Scottish manufacturing is at a critical point, reinforced by the down-turn in North Sea activity. At the AFRC, we see working with SMAS as a way for the centre to get closer to Scottish SME manufacturers. This will enable us to help more businesses improve their day-to-day manufacturing operations.
