English Language TeachingBritish Council UK Pre-Sessional Modules 1-3 and 2-3 (off campus), 2023-24

What does this course offer?

The British Council UK Pre-sessional is a joint course delivered in partnership with the British Council and the University of Strathclyde. You will study full time with a combination of online study, through the University of Strathclyde’s Virtual Learning Environment (VLE), Myplace, and face-to-face teaching, with the University of Strathclyde’s trusted teaching partners, The British Council, at one of their teaching centres in Hanoi, Vietnam; Bangkok, Thailand; or Taipei, Taiwan. Each week of this course has 15 hours of task-based communicative and collaborative face-to-face teaching with the British Council’s experienced tutors. Before the face-to-face classes, there are self-study tasks on MyPlace to help you prepare to get the maximum benefit from these sessions.

The course content and assessment are exactly the same as the BALEAP accredited Strathclyde Online Pre-sessional Modules 1-3 and 2-3. The focus is on real situations and tasks that you'll be likely to perform in your future studies.

The British Council UK Pre-Sessional Modules 1-3 and 2-3 course makes full use of the aims and outcomes, assessment strategy and communicative pedagogy of ELT’s BALEAP accredited Pre-sessional Programme. While the British Council UK Pre-sessional is NOT formally accredited, students are offered a learning experience informed by BALEAP principles and standards, and ELT and the British Council are working towards accreditation for the course for subsequent years.

Successful completion of the course will enable students to meet their language condition for a main degree at the University of Strathclyde. Successful completion of the course may also enable students to meet their language condition for a main degree at other universities. It is the responsibility of the student to check whether their intended main degree university will accept the course. Students in this position should contact the British Council for more information: UK_PSE@britishcouncil.org.
