Undergraduate

Applicants with qualifications other than the IB, A-Level of American High School Diploma would normally be required to complete a foundation programme

Postgraduate

We normally look for a Master’s degree at a minimum of 70% from a recognised institution. Students without these qualifications should contact the International Study Centre.

Undergraduate

Students with High School qualifications will need to complete the Foundation Programme. Alternatively IB, A Levels accepted.

We also accept IB, European Baccalaureate and A-Levels.

Students applying with American qualifications (SAT/ACT/AP) should refer to USA.

Postgraduate

Diplomë universitare is insufficient for entry. Kandidat i Shkencave (Candidate of Sciences), Masters level will be considered. A score of 8.5-9.5 from a well-ranked public institution is considered comparable to a UK 2.1 while a score of 8-8.5 is considered comparable to a UK 2.2.

Undergraduate

Students who have studied the Tawjihiyya/Thanawiya General School Certificate are eligible for entry via a foundation programme from the ISC. Students that have studied an International Qualification such as A Levels, IB Diploma, French Bac or the American High School system should check the relevant country.

Postgraduate

Licence Diplome d’Ingenieur/d’Architecte d’Etat, or Diplome d’Etudes Superieures, or Diplome (in a professional field). The typical minimum score is 15/20 but requirements vary by department and course.

Undergraduate

Students with IB, A-Levels or the American High School Diploma may be considered for direct entry.

Applicants with national qualifications will usually be required to complete a foundation year. In addition, all applicants are required to demonstrate proficiency in English language.

Undergraduate

Applicants holding IB, A-level or CAPE high school leaving qualifications will be considered for undergraduate entry. CAPE applicants should offer grades of I or II across all subject areas will be considered

Postgraduate

A score of 63% or B+ (GPA of 3.0) is considered comparable to a UK 2.1 while a score of C or 50% is considered comparable to a UK 2.2.

Applicants holding IB, A-level or CAPE high school leaving qualifications will be considered for undergraduate entry. CAPE applicants should offer grades of I or II across all subject areas to be considered

Postgraduate

A score of 75-85 or B+ from a well ranked public institution is considered comparable to a UK 2.1 while a score of 55-75 or C is considered comparable to a UK 2.2.

Applicants who have completed the Bachillerato or twelve years of secondary education would normally be expected to undertake a Foundation year.

A wide range of European qualifications are recognised, including the Reifeprüfung/Maturazeugnis and the International Baccalaureate. For some degree programmes, we may expect you to have studied specific subjects within the Reifeprüfung/Maturazeugnis or the IB.

We also accept IB, European Baccalaureate and A-Levels.

Students applying with American qualifications (SAT/ACT/AP) should refer to USA.

Postgraduate

Magister or Diplom with 2.5 or better.

Undergraduate

Completion of a recognised Foundation Programme. Successful completion of at least one year of university study in Azerbaijan. Students with IB or A levels please refer to course pages for details.

Postgraduate

Bakalavr or Magistr from a recognised Azerbaijani institution with a minimum average grade GPA of 3/4 or 4/5.

B

Undergraduate

Applicants holding IB, A-level or CAPE high school leaving qualifications will be considered for undergraduate entry.

Postgraduate

A score of 3.50 or B+ or 80-90%.

We normally require either a 4-year bachelor degree from an approved institution; or a 3-year bachelor degree plus a Master’s degree from a recognised institution; with a minimum of 60%/2.8 GPA to be considered for entry, however, some programmes may require higher grades. Applicants for the Faculty of Engineering will be required to have IEC or BAETE recognised qualifications to be considered for entry.

Applicants holding IB, A-level or CAPE high school leaving qualifications will be considered for undergraduate entry.

Postgraduate

B/65% or 3.0 GPA.

University of Belize Bachelors degrees can be considered, especially international programmes with a strong GPA. A score of B or 3.0 or 80 from a well ranked public institution is considered comparable to a UK 2.1, while a score of C or 2.0 or 73 is considered comparable to a UK 2.2. A Level or CAPE grades will also be considered alongside degree scores.

Students with IB, A-Levels or the American High School Diploma may be considered for direct entry.

The Cameroonian GGCE isn't normally sufficient for direct entry to Strathclyde undergraduate programmes and students with this qualification will usually need to take a foundation programme.

Students with IB, A-Levels or the American High School Diploma may be considered for direct entry.

Applications for postgraduate study are considered on a case-by-case basis, but normally we look for the equivalent to a UK second class honours degree or higher.

Alberta: Minimum 75% in five acceptable Grade 12 subjects

British Colombia: A minimum of five B Grades in Grade 12 subjects

Manitoba: Five subjects at grade 12 with a minimum of 70% in each subject

New Foundland: Five subjects at grade 12 with a minimum of 70% in each subject

Nova Scotia: Five/Six subjects at grade 12 or CEGEP B/80%

Ontario: 70% or above in six grade 12, U or M courses

Saskatchewaen: Five/Six subjects at grade 12 or CEGEP B/80%

Postgraduate

To be considered for a Masters degree, you should have achieved a four-year bachelor degree with a GPA of at least 70%, or B, or 3.0/4.0. Some courses may accept a lower GPA and will take into consideration your supporting documents. Please contact us if you are in any doubt.

Applications are made directly to Strathclyde through the course webpage for postgraduate study. If you wish to apply for a research degree you'd normally have to have a Masters degree and some experience of research work.

Provinces with no Huikao: 80% on average over six subjects, including required subjects.

The above requirement plus Gao Kao with at least 525/750 or where the total points is not 750 then at least 70%.

  • over an average of 70% for 211/985 universities
  • over an average of 75% for the rest of Chinese universities

Students interested in PhD must usually have a Masters and must include a proposal in their application.

Undergraduate

For admission into the University's foundation programme, which is run by Study Group, we'll consider students who have gained the Bachillerato (Diploma de Bachillér) – a qualification comparable to GCSE grades A*-C standard, on a subject for subject basis. On successful completion of the foundation programme you'll progress into Year 2 of the main undergraduate Bachelors degree.

Applicants with the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma or British A-Levels will be considered for admission to our Bachelor degree courses. If you have high scores, you may be eligible for second year entry.

Postgraduate

Applicants who hold a Licenciado/Título Profesional (GPA 3.5+) awarded after four or more years of study will be considered for admission to a Masters degree.

Applicants who hold a Título de Maestría/Magister degree will be considered for admission to PhD study.

Undergraduate

Students with IB, A-Levels or the American High School Diploma may be considered for direct entry.

4-year Titulo de Licenciado / Licenciatura is deemed equivalent to a UK Bachelors degree. A score of B or 80-89 or 4-4.99 from a well ranked public institution will be considered.

Undergraduate

Complete the Bachiller with at least 8/10 overall in the final year to be considered for foundation level.

Postgraduate

Typically we consider the title of Licenciado (when obtained after four or more years of study) to be deemed equivalent to a UK Bachelors degree. A score of 80 or 8 from a well ranked public institution will be considered.

Undergraduate

The Thanawiyah/General Secondary School Certificate isn't normally sufficient for direct entry to Strathclyde undergraduate programmes and students with this qualification will usually need to take a Foundation Programme. Successful completion of the Foundation Programme allows students to progress to the second year of most Strathclyde bachelor’s degrees.

Students with IB, A-Levels or the American High School Diploma can be considered for direct entry, as can students from Choeuifat/SABIS schools. Please see individual course pages for requirements. Students with American qualifications should refer to the guidance on our USA page.

Postgraduate

CGPA 3.0 out of 4/75%/’Very Good’. Relevant postgraduate work experience may also be taken into consideration.

High school qualification will be considered for entry to foundation level.

Typically we consider a five year degree (non-techinical) from El Salvador as equivalent to UK Bachelors. A score of 7.5 or 75 (Muy Bueno) from a well ranked public institution will be considered.

The University of Strathclyde recognises a wide range of European qualifications, including the Gümnaasiumi lõputunnistus and Riigieksam and the International Baccalaureate.

For some degree programmes, we may expect you to have studied specific subjects within the Gümnaasiumi lõputunnistus and Riigieksam for example, where we ask applicants taking Scottish Qualifications Authority (SQA) Highers for a specific subject(s), we may ask you for the same subject(s).

We also accept IB, European Baccalaureate and A-Levels.

Students applying with American qualifications (SAT/ACT/AP) should refer to USA.

For entry with the Ylioppilastutkintotodistus/Studentexamensbetyg we require a grade of between 4-6.

Undergraduate

Entry requirements may vary by course, but students would usually be required to have an overall minimum score of 12 in the French Baccalaureate depending on the subject. For some degree programmes, we may expect you to have studied specific subjects.

The West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) isn't normally sufficient for direct entry to Strathclyde undergraduate programmes and students with this qualification will usually need to take a foundation programme.

Students with IB, A-Levels or the American High School Diploma may be considered for direct entry.

Postgraduate

Honours degree from a prestigious institution in Ghana, and who've achieved a second-class degree or higher.

Entry requirements may vary by course, but usually a minimum overall score of 17 in the Apolytirion of Geniko Lykeio is required depending on the subject, as well as 15-17 in Pan-Hellenic national examination required subjects, or two A-levels (including any required subjects at the required level).

For entry to Strathclyde postgraduate programmes, we'd look for a first-class undergraduate degree (approx 60%) from a recognised Indian institution. Although 60% is a general entry requirement we understand that the marking system in some states and national universities make it harder to achieve 60%, therefore we will accept 55% from University of Mumbai, University of Calcutta, University of Delhi etc. Graduates from the IITs and IIMs will also be considered with marks in the region of 55%. If you wish to apply for a research degree you'd normally have to have a Masters degree and some experience of research work.

For those who do not meet the entry requirements for direct entry, the University of Strathclyde International Study Centre offers an Undergraduate Foundation Programme on campus.

Postgraduate

For our postgraduate taught degrees (eg MSc, MLitt, etc) we can accept applicants with a Bachelor’s degree or Specialist Diploma from a recognised Kazakh institution.

For entry to our postgraduate research degrees (eg MPhil, MRes, PhD, etc), we require a Master’s degree in a related subject area. We may consider those with Specialist Diplomas from recognised institutions on a case-by-case basis.

We will consider a GPA of 3/4 or 4/5 from a recognised university and will also take into account any work experience (although this is not required).

The Kenyan Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) isn't normally sufficient for direct entry to Strathclyde undergraduate programmes and students with this qualification will usually need to take a Foundation Programme. The Higher Secondary Certificate is sufficient to apply for undergraduate programmes at Strathclyde if excellent marks have been achieved (ie over 75% in all subjects). Applicants with marks much less than this will be required to undertake a foundation/access programme. We encourage students with A levels to apply, and students with strong marks can often enter the second year of a Strathclyde undergraduate programme.

Postgraduate

We normally look for a First class degree from a four-year course at a HEC recognised university. Students without these qualifications should contact the International Study Centre.

A Titulo de Licenciado/Licenciatura or Titulo de.. (Professional qualification) with a minimum duration of 4 years is required for consideration for postgraduate study. A score of 4.0 or 80 is considered comparable to a UK 2:1 and a score of 3.5 or 75 is comparable to a UK 2:2.

Undergraduate

Applicants with the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma or British A-Levels will be considered for direct admission to our Bachelor degree courses. If you have high scores, you may be eligible for second year entry.

You can apply for undergraduate programmes through the Universities and Colleges Admissions Service (UCAS).

If you have an Peruvian high school qualification (Certificado de Educación Secundaria Común Completa) you will need to do a Foundation programme on our campus with Study Group. On successful completion of the foundation programme you'll progress into Year 2 of most undergraduate Bachelor’s degrees.

Postgraduate

We will consider applications to a Master’s degree from candidates who have achieved a minimum of 13 out of 20 from a four-year Licenciatura or Título Profesional.

For entry to most postgraduate taught degrees (MSc), we look for a Bakalavr, Specialist Diploma or Magistr from an accredited higher education institution with a minimum average grade of GPA of 3/4 or 4/5.

For entry to our postgraduate research degrees (MPhil, PhD), we look for a Magistr or Kandidat Nauk.

The Rwanda Advanced Certificate of Education (A-level isn't normally sufficient for direct entry to Strathclyde undergraduate programmes and students with this qualification will usually need to take a foundation programme.

Students with the state High School Diploma (Devlet Lise Diplomasi) or other Diplomas may be considered for entry to Year 1 (of 4) of undergraduate degrees at the University of Strathclyde on a case-by-case basis, where they have achieved scores of 75% overall in Grade 12 and in relevant subjects for their proposed degree course.

Devlet Lise Diplomasi holders may also enter Strathclyde via our Undergraduate Foundation Programme – students that successfully pass the Foundation programme may progress directly to Yr2 of their Strathclyde undergraduate programme, meaning that the total length of their degree is still just four years.

Postgraduate

To be considered for admission to a Masters, for example MSc, MBA etc, applicants should have completed an undergraduate degree from a recognised institution. Applications from Lisans Diplomasi graduates will be considered on a case by case basis Typically applicants should have GPA of 2.7-3.0 taking the institution of previous study into account.

Undergraduate

Students with High School qualifications will need to completed the Foundation Programme. or alternatilvely two years university study with exceptional grades may be considered. Students with Attestat and Gold Medal awards may be eligible for direct entry but will be considered on an individual basis.

Postgraduate

Four year Bakalavr, Specialist Diploma, Magister with at least 4.5 - 4.75 may be considered for entry.

We'll usually consider applications for postgraduate study from students with an Honours degree from a prestigious institution in Uganda, and who've achieved a second class degree or higher.

For entry into an undergraduate degree programme, we will consider the following:

  • completion of a recognised Foundation Programme
  • successful completion of at least one year of university study in Ukraine

We have a test-flexible admissions policy for US students. We invite interested students to submit their application directly or through UCAS for their chosen course, along with their current or completed high school diploma, which we will consider with a minimum 3.0 GPA.

Candidates are invited to submit any standardised testing, and we will consider the following:

  • SAT: 1200 (600 in each component)/ACT: 27 plus 2 AP exams with scores of 4+

or

  • 3 AP exams with scores of 4+

Where candidates do not have access to or have not taken standardised testing, we will consider strong academic performance demonstrated within the high school diploma, for example AP or Honors classes.

Entry to some degree programmes may require the completion of AP classes or exams, or Honors classes with grades A/B in specific subjects eg Calculus and Physics for Engineering. Please contact the academic department or International Office if you are not sure.

We do not superscore the SAT or consider the optional essay.

Postgraduate

A minimum GPA of 3.0 or above on a 4.0 scale. Some courses may accept a lower GPA and will take into consideration your supporting documents. Please contact us if you are in any doubt. Applications are made directly to Strathclyde through the course web page for postgraduate study. If you wish to apply for a research degree you'd normally have to have a Masters degree and some experience of research work.

CGPA 7.0 out of 10 (Bang tot nghiep dai hoc) degree from a recognised Higher Education Institution. Relevant postgraduate work experience may also be taken into consideration.

Undergraduate

Students with IB, A-Levels or the American High School Diploma may be considered for direct entry.

Applicants with national qualifications will usually be required to complete a foundation year. In addition, all applicants are required to demonstrate proficiency in English language.

Postgraduate

Applications for postgraduate study are considered on a case-by-case basis, but normally we look for the equivalent to a UK second class honours degree or higher.

Undergraduate

Students who have studied the Tawjihiyya/Thanawiya General School Certificate are eligible for entry via a foundation programme from the ISC. Students that have studied an International Qualification such as A Levels, IB Diploma, French Bac or the American High School system should check the relevant country.

The Zambian General Certificate of Education isn't normally sufficient for direct entry to Strathclyde undergraduate programmes and students with this qualification will usually need to take a foundation programme.

Applicants with the Zimbabwean GCE Advanced Level will often be considered for direct entry.

We'll usually consider applications for postgraduate study from students with an Honours degree from a prestigious institution in Zimbabwe, and who've achieved a second class degree or higher.
