Project Details

The AHRC/ UKRI funded Design HOPES Green Transition Ecosystem (GTE) Hub aims to empower novel research to respond to significant green transition challenges in innovative, design-led collaborative ways. Across Design HOPES’ seven thematic areas, a number of new products, services, strategies, and policies have been designed and developed in response to real-world issues. The ambition here is to realise measurable, green transition change across NHS Scotland with real-world benefits and impact. The intention is that these new design-led interventions will catalyse and foster opportunities for social, cultural, environmental, and economic impact.

This PhD studentship will explore and examine the role(s) that design-led research and practice across Design HOPES’ interventions has played in the health and social care ecosystem across Scotland and identify new opportunities for innovation in designing green transitions including innovative ways of assessing and measuring the impact of a range of design-led interventions.

This PhD studentship will appeal to graduates in a number of design disciplines such as Product Design, Industrial Design, Service Design, Architecture, Textile Design, Interaction Design, and cognate areas including (but not limited to) Health and Wellbeing subjects, Human Geography, Anthropology, Human-Computer Interaction, Engineering subjects, and Business and Management subjects.
