Academic Technology Approval Scheme (ATAS certificates)

Certain programmes within science and engineering will require ATAS Clearance.

You do not need an ATAS certificate if you are a UK/EU/EEA national.

You do need an ATAS certificate if you require a Tier 4 student Visa, Entry Clearance, or Extension to stay to study in the UK and you wish to study within certain subject areas at the University where the exit award will be a doctorate or postgraduate masters degree.

The ATAS Clearance is required before you apply for your visa. Get more information on ATAS and find out if your course requires ATAS Clearance.

Can I defer my application offer?

Usually, you should make your application for the upcoming academic year, but we may consider your application for entrance the following year.

If you wish to attend the course the following year, please make an application and then contact the selection team through the Pegasus Messaging service. You should ask to defer your offer.

If the selection team agrees to defer your application, your online application will be updated and you’ll receive an email notifying you that there has been a change to your application. You’ll be able to view the changes on Pegasus. Your online offer letter will automatically update to show any changes and you can download a new copy.
