Day 1

2021 Markets in action

10:00 to 12:00 Retrader

In this practical session you will be brought up to speed with what matters in markets now as you use our app to ‘Re-Trade’ the main events of 2021.

ReTrader 1: Equities & Bonds

Candidates ReTrade the emergency rate cut from the US Federal Reserve

ReTrader 2: Forex & commodities

Candidates ReTrade the latest monetary policy decision and OPEC announcement

13:00 to 16:00 Advanced asset management

Candidates use the Asset Management Simulation to manage a $20mn global multi asset fund. Executing on 12 months of real market data, they engage with major market events. Candidates gain a practical experience in
advanced concepts including asset class correlations, hedging and currency exposure.

Day 2

Investment bank sales & trading

10:00 to 11:30 Industry induction

  • why investment firms need investment banks
  • roles and objectives
  • the future of sales and trading

11:30 to 12:00 Platform practice

  • Students get used to the sales and trading platform before the simulation begins

13:00 to 16:00 Practical simulation

Rotate through investment bank and asset management roles as you respond to events and information.

Gain a practical understanding of the core objectives and processes in the industry as they follow the journey of a trade on order-driven products only

Day 3

Live execution trading

10:00 to 11:30 Technical analysis

  • support, resistance, trends
  • osscillators and trade execution

11:30 to 12:30 Platform training

  • execution on the ladder
  • introduction to technical analysis
  • applied technical analysis

15:00 to 16:00 Live marketing training

Candidates will be connected with a Live Feed into the Amplify trading floor and will execute their trades in response to live events - supported by the Amplify trading team.

As the afternoon progresses, trading strategies across equity index products will be discussed and reviewed.

At the end of the session the team at Amplify will discuss trading psychology and risk management using the live trading examples given by the students.

Day 4

Investment banking in practice

10:00 to 11:00 Valuations in practice

  • overview of Investment Banking
  • understanding divisions and roles
  • IPO focus; from roadshow to book building to IPO

11:00 to 12:00 IPO simulation overview

Candidates are taken through demonstrations of the IPO simulation delivered to clients including Morgan Stanley and Credit Suisse.

  • round one: Pre Deal Investor Education (PDIE)
  • round two: price finding through book building
  • round three: allocation and IPO

Day 5

Technology in finance

10:00 to 11:00 Designing a strategy

  • analyse and assess technical patterns
  • analyse interdependence of asset class
  • design a manually applied strategy
  • backtest performance

11:00 to 13:00 Understanding Python

  • introduction to Python
  • study of data types, functions and libraries
  • introduction to algorithmic trading and application

14:00 to 16:00 Understanding your strategy

Using an Amplify’s pre-populated Python portal candidates adjust variables to build, apply and backtest the strategies developed across the following assets:

  • US & European stock markets
  • global currencies: EURUSD, GBPUSD
  • commodities: gold & oil
  • European & US government bonds

Performance data

Our simulations measure key technical performance and behavioural metrics as you rotate through the different roles in finance.

This is designed to meet two objectives:
