The Risk Consortium

The Risk Consortium has been established by the Department of Management Science at the University of Strathclyde to provide a platform for selected industry partners to share problems, solutions and cutting-edge techniques for quantitative risk analysis and reliability modelling.

The overall objective of the Risk Consortium is to develop and apply innovative methodologies with a sound scientific basis that support risk-based decision making across industry, business and government.

The University of Strathclyde is the major UK academic institution working on a wide range of quantitative risk analysis methodologies. The University wishes to develop and expand its current close relationship with industry partners in order to improve current risk-practice and to signal important new areas for research. This will help direct current research towards meeting industry needs and will be used to highlight the importance of risk research to universities and research councils.

The Risk Consortium aims to bridge the gap between research and industry. In particular, bringing together different industries that share similar problems and establishing complementary solutions. Members of the Risk Consortium will have the opportunity to network with risk practitioners from a range of industries, to collaborate with the university through technical support, research projects, training courses and to gain access to risk trained graduates from the department.
