Scottish Space SchoolApplication Process

Our 2026 Programme

The Faculty of Engineering in partnership with the Scottish Space School Foundation is delighted to offer our flagship Scottish Space School programme again in June 2026. Open to all S5 Scottish school pupils, the programme will see 100 participants spend five days on the University campus where they will take part in practical activities and challenges offered by University of Strathclyde staff and engineers which will provide them with an insight into studying and working in the field of engineering.

Our partners from the Scottish Space School Foundation will also visit throughout the week, giving pupils a chance to hear from NASA astronauts and engineers through a series of lectures and small group discussions.

Pupils are invited to apply if they are interested in attending using our online application form which will be available here when applications open.

The programme is fully funded by the Faculty of Engineering and all student costs, including a contribution towards travel (up to a maximum of £300), will be covered. Teachers are not required to accompany pupils. For the pupils’ convenience, we will arrange for Mentors to accompany pupils from and to the main transport hubs in Glasgow at the start and end of each day.

The programme will run from 9.00am – 4.30pm on Monday – Thursday and 9am – 1.00pm on Friday. Pupils who wish to attend should ensure they are available to attend the University throughout the entire duration of the programme.

We are also delighted to be offering our annual Evening with NASA event on Wednesday evening and Space School pupils will be given priority tickets for the event which will also be open to the public. Further details will be published soon.

Learning Journey to Houston, Texas – Update

The Learning Journey to Houston, Texas will not be running in 2026. The trip, which has previously taken place in October, has been paused for this year. We look forward to sharing updates about future opportunities and encourage pupils to continue engaging with our on-campus activities and programmes.
