NewsPGDE Class of 22/23 celebrate the year and look ahead to teaching

14 June 2023

Students finishing the Primary and Secondary PGDE 2022/23 had their achievements celebrated last week at a packed Royal Concert Hall in Glasgow.

Over 500 students were presented with scrolls by subject leaders in front of family and friends - a fitting celebration for students coming to the end of a programme involving 18 weeks of on-campus learning and 18 weeks of placement across two schools.

There were some words of wisdom for their future careers as guest speaker Dr Khadija Mohammed, a former primary teacher now Associate Dean of Equality, Diversity & Inclusion at the University of the West of Scotland, offered a reflection on the meaning of inclusion in the classroom and the great responsibility teachers have in encouraging inclusive education.

We caught up with some students to get their views on the past year on at Strathclyde and to hear what they are most looking forward to in teaching.
