Before you apply

At Strathclyde we have a wide variety of postgraduate courses on offer. Our innovative postgraduate courses are held in high regard by employers, and also provide an excellent platform for research.  We offer postgraduate degree programmes across four faculties, the Faculty of Science, the Faculty of Engineering, the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences and the Strathclyde Business School.  For a full list of our courses see the postgraduate course list.

Entry Requirements
UK students will need a good Honours degree qualification from a British university, or another equivalent qualification, furthers detail can be found in our Postgraduate Prospectus.

For further information about International Entry Requirements and English Language Requirements visit the Recruitment and International Office page.  Your qualifications to date, pending qualifications and proficiency in English will be taken into account. Some courses also ask for work experience or other qualifications - you can find out more information by searching in the course list.

Receiving offers

When you have submitted your completed application it becomes available for consideration by the appropriate academic selector. The Academic Selector takes into consideration your qualifications to date and any which are pending. He/she also looks at your employment and experience (if any) and your references. Depending on the course you have applied for, it may also be necessary for you to submit additional materials. The Academic Selector will contact you should he/she require additional information and/or materials from you.

Before an offer can be released to you, a check will be made on your fee status and you will be contacted if you have declared a criminal conviction.

If you have been made an offer, you will receive an email telling you to logon to PEGASUS where you will be able to view the details of the offer and any attached conditions. You will also be able to download a PDF copy of the offer letter.

Unconditional offers
If you receive an offer with no conditions attached, you have met all requirements for entry to the course and have secured a place.

Conditional offers
If you receive a conditional offer, there will be requirements which you have to fulfil before your place is secured. You will be able to view these requirements online. Generally, they will be pending qualifications which you are required to achieve at a specified grade and, in the case of applicants whose first language is not English, documentary evidence of your proficiency in English.

Tuition fees

In order to determine your fee status we will use the information supplied by you in your application to determine whether you should be classed as “Home” or “Overseas” for fee purposes. If we are unable to determine your fee status from the information in your application, we will send you a Fee Assessment Form which you should complete and return to us as soon as possible. You will be classed as “Overseas” until we receive your completed Fee Assessment Form and are able to re-assess your status. For further information, see the UK Council for International Student Affairs (UKCISA) webpages.

Tuition fees are updated on an annual basis.

As part of your application you are required to tell us how you intend to fund your study. If you have secured sponsorship, you should upload a letter from your sponsor which confirms the amount they will pay. Self-funded students will be required to pay full tuition fees at (or in advance of) the time of registration or set up a formal instalment plan, the first instalment being due at the time of registration. For full information on instalment plans, please see the Finance Office website.

Tuition fees are normally payable at (or in advance of) the time of registration. Advance payment of fees can aid the progress of registration. For all payment options and methods of payment (including online) please see the Finance Office website.
