International Student Support Team

main content

The International Student Support Team offers guidance and information to all registered international students, especially those that concern welfare, immigration and personal issues.  We also act as a point of contact to other support services. Prospective students should visit our courses pages or contact our Admissions Team

Where are we?

We are located on Level 1 of the McCance Building in MC1.41 and are open Monday to Friday between 10:00 and 16:00.

Make an appointment

EU and International students can access general over-the-counter information on a number of matters - however we cannot answer complex enquiries at our reception and you should make a one-to-one appointment with an International Student Adviser.

We operate an appointment booking system.  Simply log in using your University account and choose the type of appointment you are looking for.  Before booking an appointment for a visa extension, please ensure you follow the instructions on this webpage.

Additionally, we offer a Monday afternoon drop-in session between 2pm and 4pm where you will have the opportunity to speak to an adviser for a 10 minute period.    If we think your enquiry is more complex we will direct you towards a longer appointment.   Students will be taken on a first-come, first-served basis.

General Enquiries

We are open between 10:00 and 16:00 Monday to Friday for general enquiries or you can call us 0141 548 4273.

I want to return to the UK to attend my graduation ceremony

I have a Tier 4 visa which is still valid on the date of my graduation and I have already left the UK    When you registered to graduate you will have received an email confirmation.  Before you enter the UK border you should print and carry this confirmation in your hand luggage as you may be asked why you are entering the UK close to your visa expiry date and after your studies are complete.  The confirmation can act as proof that you are travelling with good reason connected to your studies (graduation).  If you carry this confirmation you should be allowed to enter the UK, but please note that we cannot guarantee this.

I no longer have a valid Tier 4 Visa    You should apply for a Standard Visit visa.  When you registered to graduate you will have received an email confirmation, this should be submitted with your application. You will also be required to provide proof that you have enough money to support your trip to the UK (no amount is specified but make sure you have more than enough to cover flights, accommodation and living costs for the duration of your stay).  We recommend you provide bank statements and booking or enquiry forms for your flights and accommodation.  We also suggest you show proof of your intention to leave the UK at the end of your stay (return flights, job offer/contract etc).   You will find more information on the required documents, plus the application form and more information on the process here.
