Personal statement

I have been involved in research activities at the university since 1982 with a broad interest in the properties of insulation systems.  This has included: breakdown and ageing processes in solid insulation systems; Multifactorial ageing of insulation including radioactive stressing and simulated space stressing; diagnostic and condition monitoring techniques for ageing in solid insulation; breakdown in liquid and gasses; Design of switching systems for Pulse Power applications; Generation of high power ultrasound and modification of material properties through the use of nano-particles.

In addition to my research I take an active role in teaching for my department both at home and overseas. I am also First Year Advisor of Studies for students studying Electronic and Electrical Engineering courses and I am the undergraduate academic selector for my department.
