Personal statement

Carol joined Research and Knowledge Exchange Services in the new role of Research Policy Officer focusing on research outputs and the research environment. Carol is an urban social scientist with degrees in History and Social Policy, an M.Phil in Urban Policy both awarded by the University of Glasgow, and she obtained her PhD in Urban Studies from Heriot-Watt University in 2011. Her PhD focused on urban form and social equity in access to services and was funded by the EPSRC. Prior to obtaining her PhD, Carol worked mainly in academic research (Universities of Glasgow and Heriot-Watt) addressing urban and social issues within cities and has also recently worked within retail research (Stirling University) addressing the decline of town centres and changing retail environments. She has strong interests in research, policy, and public affairs. She lives in Neilston with her eleven year old son Gabriel.
