Personal statement

Dr Seyed Abolfazl Mortazavizadeh graduated from Iran University of Science and Technology, Tehran, Iran, in 2012 and 2014, respectively, with a B.S. and M.Sc. in electrical engineering. His study was mostly focused on fault detection and condition monitoring in electrical machines, especially traction motors. He started his Ph.D. life in 2014 and had researches on fault tolerant electrical drives and signal processing for fault detection in electrical machines. As a visiting scholar he joined University of Cassino and Southern Lazio, Italy, collaborating with LEDA (advanced electro dynamics laboratory) and LEI (industrial electronics laboratory) for six months in 2017. In September 2020, he received his Ph.D. from the Isfahan University of Technology, Isfahan, Iran.

From 2013 to 2018, he lectured at Isfahan University of Technology, University of Qom, Qom Industrial University, and Islamic Azad University. As an inspector, R&D engineer, and R&D lead, he has worked at Iran Water and Electrical Equipment Engineering Co., Tavan Rahe Sanat Co., and Azar Motor Mobin Co. before earning his Ph.D. The outcomes of some of these projects includs the development of an RTU for a power distribution network, the development of an EPS system for two urban automobiles, and the design of an EPS test bench for an urban automobile.

He joined the University of Cassino and Southern Lazio, Italy as a postdoc researcher in 2021. The focus of his research was the design and implantation of GaN based power switches for ACC and SSB control modules.

As a research associate, he joined the University of Strathclyde in June 2022. He is currently involved in the X-ROTOR and HAPiWEC projects to develop renewable energy systems.
