Personal statement
I came to Strathclyde in 1990 to study for an MSc in Industrial Mathematics which subsequently led on to
me completing a PhD in the area of Numerical Analysis under the supervision of Professor David Sloan.
I became a member of staff in the then Department of Mathematics in 1995 with responsibility for
all its computer systems which at that time were mainly Sun Sparc Workstations. A lot has changed since then
but my primary goal is still to maintain the smooth running of the department's computer systems and
to provide advice and technical support to our staff and students on the use of IT in their research, teaching and administrative activities.
