Dear Strathclyde Students,
We are living in an extraordinary time for the whole world and you will appreciate that it is essential that you - and each and every one of our students - adhere to the Scottish Government guidelines, especially those relating to social gatherings, to prevent the spread of Covid-19 and to be respectful of the communities we live alongside.
On Friday, the First Minister, Nicola Sturgeon, announced that greater restrictions might be needed to interrupt the spread of the virus. Now, more than ever, our personal and collective conduct and behaviours are critically important.
We are in a critical phase in the fight against the virus and we all need to play our part in ensuring a safe environment for everyone by abiding by the University of Strathclyde Covid-19 Community Commitment, available on the Campus-Life web page.
Your health and wellbeing, and that of all our students and staff within the Strathclyde Community, is of the utmost importance to me, and to all the staff who teach and support you. The Covid-19 Community Commitment includes downloading the free Protect Scotland app. This will help us all to stay safe when we meet up, socialise, work or travel. By downloading the App you will play your part in protecting Scotland.
You will also find on the Campus Life website a letter to you from the Scottish Government about the different symptoms of the common cold, flu and Covid-19 and a letter from NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde about the new social distancing rules.
Since 14 September - no more than six people from up to two households can meet socially. This applies in all locations – at home, in hospitality or outdoors in a park, garden or anywhere on the campus. Your flat is a single household.
Since 14 September 2020 - restrictions on parties in private dwellings apply to student accommodation. Regulation 10 of the Health Protection (Coronavirus) (Restrictions and Requirements) (Scotland) Regulations 2020 makes it an offence to attend a party in student accommodation.
