Ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-changes...

Well, I know that this is a little late for a first post, but to make up for it, this one will be a bit longer than my subsequent ones.

If I was to sum up China in a word, it would have to be convenient. Often people think of China in the old way of it being this totally isolated country with no modern conveniences and no contact with the outside world. I certainly did. I was pleasantly surprised when I walked out of the uni on my first night at 1 in the morning and was greeted by a, still open, family owned shop. The shop sold a lot more western comforts than I thought. It sold Coke (可乐, Kělè) and Chocolate (巧克力, Qiǎokèlì) as well as chinese food like some nice hot steam buns (包子,  Bāozi)

I’ll resist the urge to document every single amazing minute, so I’ll skip to the highlights:

  • Stared at by every small child that I walked by.
  • Seen shirts with amazing text on them, such as “May the faith be with you” and “Slime warning alpha”.
  • Found a shop that sells rabbits for about £5
  • Everything is super cheap (20 dumplings are about a pound)
  • Went to a cafe filled with cats and had a drink called a “Vanilla Meow”

Here are some pictures to accompany this. ‘Til next time,

再见!
