Holiday Part 2

大家好!This is the second part of our spring holiday.

Guilin (桂林)

Our first stop in Guilin was the Elephant Trunk Hill. This was exactly what it says on the box, it's a hill that looks like an elephant. This was a really nice way to start our travels in Guilin as it had such beautiful scenery (景色). Here they had amazing views and my favourite (喜爱) part was the little elephant statues they had in the water.

After that we went to Yangshuo (阳朔). Here we of course climbed a mountain and were rewarded with probably the best view of all of the places we went on this holiday. We then got a boat (船) in the river (河) where we got to see the scenery that inspired the 20RMB note! Although it was busy, something about being on a boat in a bed of water was very peaceful and it was nice to get a change of pace.

Our last stop in Guilin was the reed flute cave. This was not what I expected. I thought it was just going to be a cave (山洞) in a mountain but it was actually way cooler. This was a massive cave that had been naturally formed into strange shapes. It also had a lot of colourful lights everywhere and we were told lots of information by our group’s tour guide.

Guangzhou (广州)

Our last stop together was Guangzhou. Here we went to the Sacred Heart Cathedral. In this area there was a lot of French (法国) and British (英国) architecture and the cathedral itself was designed by French architects. In Guangzhou we also climbed another mountain, where we got help from a Chinese family when we couldn't find the entrance, since they were also on their way to the mountain. This mountain was a lot easier (容易) to climb than the others as it had a road for shuttle buses to go up and down. Thankfully it wasn't just stairs like the others. And lastly we went to the Canton tower. This tower was amazing at night with all the lights swirling about in different colours. We spent quite a bit of time here taking pictures (照片).

Beijing (北京)

After the journey with Alyssa and Suzie, I went to meet my parents (父母)! There was a bit of trouble at the start as I missed my train but it was all worth it. When I arrived at the hotel (宾馆) they were staying at I was giddy with excitement. I was so happy to see them! Together we spent that first day just relaxing in the hotel since we were all so tired (累). While in Beijing we went to see the Great Wall (长城) . It was in the middle of winter so it was extremely cold and it was snowing (下雪), however it was still fun and I didn't mind since I got to spend time with my parents. We also had a tour to a silk (绸子) factory where we learned how silk was made and my mum got to buy some silk souvenirs. This tour also included lunch and visiting the water cube. We also had fun just walking about the streets of Beijing and I enjoyed showing my parents China.

All in all the holiday was really fun! I think my favourite place was Kunming but my favourite part of the holiday was seeing my parents.
