My Incredible South East Asian Adventure

45 days, 4 countries, 8 planes, 7 modes of transports, dozens of new friends, 1 rucksack, extreme tans (aka bad sunburn), 5 currencies, new languages and cultures, several delicious dishes, loads of new sights and many memories later- this is the story of my big South East Asian adventure!

Backpacking around South East Asia has opened my eyes to so much of the world I had never seen before. For me, travelling was an enjoyable and valuable opportunity to learn and become totally, fully independent. At first, the thought of Catherine and I, two 18-year-old girls, by ourselves, travelling to 4 different countries was a little nerve-racking - what could go wrong?! Despite the few hiccups along the way, e.g. arriving at Manila airport to find out we were a whole day early, losing track of time while surfing the waves in Bali resulting in extreme sunburn, and getting lost a few times (however I could argue that getting lost is the best way to explore a place), we did it! We made it back to Tianjin in one piece (better yet…. We made it back ALIVE) and with all our belongings still intact! Throughout our travels we met so many interesting people with so many different stories to tell- both locals and travellers. We tried countless local speciality dishes and foods as well as visiting the most breath-taking places in the world! Most of these photos don’t do each country’s beauty the justice it deserves but I hope you get a feel for the unforgettable adventures I’ve embarked on whilst travelling.

There are 4 separate blogs following- 1 for each country we travelled to.

ENJOY…
