Our research uses smart technology to study the role of movement in autism and other neurodevelopmental disorders.
Our areas of research
Smart Tech
We research the use of consumer smart tech like iPad tablets for their potential role in the assessment of autism and other neurodevelopmental disorders. The inertial sensors in these devices can easily capture significant touch and movement data, which we can use both for new assessment tools and basic research into the role of movement in a range of disorders.
Assessment
New technologies have enabled new areas of research into autism assessment methods. Smart devices contain touch and movement sensors that will allow us to develop tools to screen for autism and other neurodevelopmental disorders through gameplay.
Movement
Movement disruptions are a key component of autism. Researching the role of movement in autism can lead to new methods of assessment, new interventions, and new insight into the nature of the disorder.
