Elsevier Young Scholar Gold Award

PhD student Hangyu Liu was awarded the  “Elsevier Young Scholar Gold Award” at the 26th International Conference on Diamond and Carbon Materials (DCM 2015) held in Bad Homburg, Germany, from 6 to 10 September 2015.

The DCM 2015 is an international conference focusing on the next generation diamond, carbon-based devices.

Hangyu was selected as one of the six finalists of the Young Scholar Award based on the work of “Large radius of curvature micro-lenses on single crystal diamond and their application in monolithic diamond Raman lasers”. Each finalist was asked to deliver a talk and an extra poster presentation under the same topic.

He was awarded one of the final three Young Scholar Gold Award's of the DCM 2015 conference.

The award was announced by the conference chair and the editor-in-chief of “Diamond and Related Materials”, Ken Haenen. Hangyu received his award from Professor Etienne Gheeraert and Professor Anke Krueger.

Over 300 people attended the confernce with 74 oral and 190 poster presentations given.
