Personal statement
I am a Chancellor's Fellow in the Department of Computer and Information Sciences at the University of Strathclyde and a member of the Digital Health and Mathematically Structured Programming research groups. I studied computer science and synthetic biology at the University of Edinburgh School of Informatics and I was a postdoc there and at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine in the Centre for Mathematical Modelling of Infectious Disease where I worked on the COVID-19 pandemic. For many years previously I worked as a telecommunications engineer and was involved in developing community owned and operated Internet infrastructure in the Scottish Highlands.

Research Interests
I am interested in computational modelling of biological systems, usually with medical or public health applications. At present, I am particularly interested in the interplay between immune response and population dynamics of infectious disease as well as the causes and effects of individual choices on the dynamics of epidemics. I am also interested in communication and data processing infrastructure for telemetry, both to inform the above and more generally.
