The BA Social Work programme has an Equal Consideration Deadline of 31 January via UCAS. International students can apply year-round.

The MSW Social Work programme accepts applications throughout the year via the Strathclyde postgraduate direct application system.

Follow UCAS personal statement guidance, highlighting relevant experiences and explaining why you want to become a social worker.

For the BA Social Work, UCAS applications require one reference.

For the MSW Social Work, direct applications require two.

Use an academic reference for your first reference (if possible), and a second reference from someone who can speak to your experience.

The essay explores ethical issues, your proposed actions, and the role of the local authority social work department.

For BA Social Work applicants, an electronic collection form is emailed.

Apply via UCAS for the BA if you're from Scotland, England, Ireland, Wales, the EU, or an international student. Use the Direct Undergraduate Application System for international students applying outside UCAS deadlines. Postgraduate students apply via the postgraduate application system.

Wait for assessment; if successful, you'll be contacted for more information or an interview. Check your email regularly for updates.

The BA is a full-time four-year course; the MSW is two years. Both involve compulsory attendance. Practice learning occurs in various social work service agencies with formal supervision.

Registration information is issued by the department, on behalf of the SSSC, to students who have accepted their offer of study from Strathclyde.

The SSSC maintains a register of social service workers, including students. Registration is mandatory, and failure to register may result in withdrawal from the course. Ensure compliance with the SSSC Code of Practice and PVG registration.
