Video guidelines
Branding

All Strathclyde video content must be consistent in look and feel. It must also be branded consistently with Strathclyde brand assets.

Topping your video

Your video must be topped only with the Strathclyde logo. Please do not add slides, graphics, or anything else. The logo should enter the screen on your video at 1s and leave at 4s.

Important

Please ensure you download the 'original' file.

Lower thirds

Lower thirds are what we use to introduce interviewees on screen.

Font

Our digital font is Alegreya Sans and should be used on all public facing digital media.

  • you can download this font directly from Google

Formatting your font

For names and headings, use Alegreya Sans Bold.

For everything else, use Alegreya Sans Regular.

Your heading text (ie contributor name) should be roughly double the size of your explanatory text (who your contributor is in relation to the video).

It should be:

  • name size: 50 - 70px
  • description size: 30 - 40px

Adjust as necessary to fit in the lower thirds.

Colour
  • RGB 40/40/40, #282828

This is what the colour of your font should be:

Alignment

If your lower thirds are aligned to the right, your text should align to the right:

If your lower thirds are aligned to the left, your text should align to the left:

Architecture student Alissar smiles off camera

Important

Never use italic font - it's inaccessible.

Text on screen

Occasionally there may be a need to lay text or captions over your video.

Please follow the relevant guidance above with regards to font and colour, and use the lower thirds for captions and text file to lay over your video. It should look like this:
