Emerging data and reports released by the United Nations have shown that all types of violence against women and girls, particularly domestic violence, have increased.  Gender-based violence (GBV) refers to harmful acts directed at an individual based on their gender. It is rooted in gender inequality, the abuse of power and harmful norms. Gender-based violence is a serious violation of human rights and a life-threatening health and protection issue.

This course will build an understanding of the nature and scope of GBV, to recognise its impact on those who experience it, and look at the role society, culture, and media plays towards perpetuating gender inequality.  It will also teach you the signs to look out for in women and children living with domestic abuse and give contact details for available help and support.

Poor sleep health is common during adolescence due to biological changes and environmental and societal demands that impact on sleep. Insufficient and poor quality sleep in adolescence is associated with an increased risk of mental health problems, poor physical health, school absenteeism and cognitive impairments such as reduced concentration and memory.

Delivered by experts in the field of Behavioural Sleep Medicine, this course has been specifically designed for individuals working closely with adolescents (e.g., teachers, educational psychologists, school support staff, youth workers). The aim is to provide attendees with a solid, theoretical understanding of the foundations of adolescent sleep, the knowledge to identify when a young person may be experiencing persistent poor sleep, and the practical skills to help encourage them to sleep well.
