Personal statement

Employed by Babcock International, Paul is seconded into the University to fulfil two key roles as ANRC Partnership Director. The first is operational governance, ensuring that the research conducted through the ANRC matches industry requirements and is conducted under the financial and performance control criteria. The second is to develop and enhance the Strategic Partnership that Babcock has with the University of Strathclyde. The partnership covers all research areas and aims to support the continuing development of Babcock’s capabilities in its delivery of complex and critical engineering services across a number of sectors. Paul has worked in a number of areas including the operation, management and engineering support of complex assets in highly regulated environments, nuclear and non-nuclear. He has also been involved in the strategic assessment and sustainment of UK nuclear Suitably Qualified and Experienced Personnel, skills generation and assurance, long term contract negotiation and transformational change programmes. In each case he had a focus on people, team creation and drawing the best from each member. This remains a key theme in his engagement with University of Strathclyde staff and the translation of their valued academic work into recognised industrial capabilities.
