Choosing the MSc Business & Management

My love of science as well as my desire to help humanity came together during my undergraduate years, while studying pharmacy and working at an International pharmaceutical firm. Representing the company in continuing to educate healthcare professionals in ways to treat cancer, I became fully aware of my goal and my passion. I was eager to fulfil my professional dream while performing my duties. Being a part of the pharmaceutical team and learning so much from my superiors made me realise that I wanted to know even more in the field of business and management. I wanted to understand every facet of the pharmaceutical industry as well as to educate more people on how to live healthier lives and stay positive while new treatments are being developed. That desire set me on my new life journey to study further at the University of Strathclyde.

Why Strathclyde

The University of Strathclyde was no doubt my first choice due to its well-known reputation around the world, having held triple accreditation for its business school since 2004. Strathclyde Business School was also the first business school in Scotland to achieve triple accreditation. Moreover, the University of Strathclyde is conveniently located right in the city centre. This is essential for supporting students’ learning and also helps them care of their health and well-being.

The postgraduate journey

The postgraduate journey at the University of Strathclyde was a major change in life. Throughout my learning, I acquired new expertise and skills, especially while exploring professional knowledge in the Consulting in Practice module. I have facilitated market research and analysis for a company to understand customer needs by mapping out solutions for different customer demographics with various package solutions. This helped the company resolve customer relationship matters while I was gaining the necessary skills, strategies, and knowledge. These are the core elements that will allow me to shape my career, by discovering my talents and developing them into strengths in order to become a purpose-driven business leader. Overall, the MSc Business & Management has given me considerably more choices for my future by increasing my competitiveness.

I also participated and learnt a lot as a programme representative at Strathclyde Business School. It was the most exceptional experience I have ever had as I have never participated within the student association in my undergraduate years. I listened to students’ issues and regarded myself as a liaison between the university and the students. This two-way communication helped me develop my leadership skills as I was able to hear various points of view from different sides. I passed on feedback on the teaching methods, assessment and other aspects of the programme, supporting the students and the directors when it came to negative issues, and maintaining or sustaining the positive outcomes for the benefit of future Strathclyders.

Looking to the future & words of advice

With the aim of advancing my career goals, I am impatient to implement what I have learnt from the program in my current role as Internal Sales Specialist at a multi-national medical device company in London. This exciting opportunity allowed me to contribute my business and management knowledge to areas such as marketing support, sales optimisation, relationship building and marketing plan execution.

I encourage everyone who is interested in studying at the University of Strathclyde, the place of useful learning, to do so. It is not a dream to pursue your aspiration. As long as you have the heart and dedication, you will always receive unexpected resources and valuable people around to support you. Let’s work hard for our future together and be a person that you would admire. Make your dream a reality.

I encourage everyone who is interested in studying at the University of Strathclyde, the place of useful learning, to do so.
