Suction controlled oedometer

Description

This stainless steel cell enables oedometer tests to be carried out on unsaturated soils by controlling matric suction. Matric suction is controlled using the axis translation technique. In this technique, the soil specimen rests on a high air-entry value ceramic disc which is installed at the base of the cell, within the cell a controlled air pressure can be applied. This cell is supplied with a high air-entry value ceramic disc of 1500 kPa. The cell can be used to test soil specimens 50mm in diameter and up to a maximum height of 20mm.
