Design-by-Analysis – Concepts & Practice

Content

This three-day course introduces the concepts and practice of Design-by-Analysis, including detailed fatigue analysis, in the context of the PD 5500, EN 13445, ASME III and ASME VIII Division 2 pressure vessel codes.

The delegates are introduced to the scope and purpose of the DBA rules, basic concepts in pressure vessel design, ductile failure mechanisms and fatigue failure of welded structures.

Pressure vessel DBA and International Institute of Welding guidelines are explained and practical design procedures such as stress linearisation and weld hot-spot stress procedures are described in detail.

A third of the course will be taken up by hands-on analysis sessions, at which delegates will perform DBA and Fatigue analysis using elastic and elastic-plastic Finite Element Analysis (no previous experience required).
