Centre for Energy PolicyAnas Karkoutli

Anas Karkoutli is a PhD student and Research Assistant within CEP. He has a strong background in economics and international politics alongside an MSc degree in advanced research methods primarily used in today’s knowledge-based economies, including applied mathematics and data science. His educational expertise and interest in energy and environmental policy have shaped his current research endeavours. He is working on identifying the UK economy-wide impacts of various environmental policy mechanisms, focusing on industrial decarbonisation challenges within the ‘Just Transition’ scope. Anas' work aims to bridge the knowledge gap between the industrial sector, academia, and policymakers by formulating a common economic lens through which all stakeholders can look to understand, analyse, and ultimately address decarbonisation challenges. He is open to connections from the industry and very keen to accept collaborations that may support bridging this gap.
