Dr Paulina Gonzalez-Martinez

As a Knowledge Exchange Associate, Paulina focuses on impact activities related to effectively communicating the Centre’s work, research, and stakeholder engagement. She has over ten years of experience working across the public, private, and academic sectors and is passionate about the use of research to inform policy and decision-making processes.

Paulina holds an MSc in Environment and Development and a PhD in International Development from the University of Edinburgh. Her doctoral research focused on the political economy of electricity in Mexico City with the Mexican Electrical Workers Union (SME) case study using participant observation methods. During her PhD, she tutored in climate change, energy policy, development, and anthropology courses and consulted on the gender and climate change nexus for non-profit and international organisations.

In her previous professional experience, Paulina worked in the Mexican public sector at institutions like the Presidency of the Republic, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Education, and the Senate. She also holds a political science and public management degree from Universidad Iberoamericana.
