The Kilbrandon Lecture, supported by Scottish Government, and arranged by the University of Strathclyde, occurs each autumn to commemorate the contribution to public life and the Scottish legal system of Charles Shaw, Lord Kilbrandon.
The first lecture was given by Sanford J Fox in 1991, and the early lectures were hosted by the University of Glasgow. Lord Kilbrandon chaired the committee (1961-1964) which led to the formation of the Scottish Children's Hearings system.
The lectures which can be accessed from this page represent a substantial archive of original thinking about aspects of childhood and the involvement of the state.
