Raise Your Profile

The University of Strathclyde is 'the place of useful learning' attracting many of the best qualified students in the West of Scotland. It is the third largest provider of full-time courses in Scotland with a strong reputation in science, engineering, business, arts, social sciences and education. Many of the UK's top employers express satisfaction with the high calibre of Strathclyde recruits.

We are happy to discuss your particular requirements but the following options may help to raise your profile at Strathclyde

  • Exhibit at the Scottish Graduate Fair - a two-day event in October each year at the Scottish Exhibition and Conference Centre (SECC). Typically attended by around 3,500 students and graduates, mainly from Scottish universities, with approximately one third from Strathclyde

  • We support students in Getting the right work experience. This is where you can advertise part-time jobs, vacation work & internships for students of earlier years.

  • Arrange a 'Meet Strathclyde' seminar. Such events provide an opportunity to meet careers advisers and academic staff from departments of relevance to your recruitment needs. This may result in opportunities for involvement in the academic curriculum

  • Consult Careers Consultants for an expert insight into the courses in their caseloads.

  • Sponsor Careers Service resources with your organisation's logo reproduced as appropriate. Successful initiatives to date include:

    • upgrading the signage in our resource centre
    • new equipment for use by students
    • employer logos on our publications.

  • Make a presentation

  • Exhibit at our Law Fair, Pharmacy Fair or IT Fair

  • Produce materials, in consultation with advisers, to enhance our students' occupational awareness, eg 'a day in the life of a ...' and other resources for our careers education activities

  • Offer advice to our students on what employers want via the large plasma screen in our waiting area

  • Use your Strathclyde alumni as role models within their former department or to lead case studies or skills training sessions. Current students identify very closely with alumni

These are some ideas which have proved successful for employers. Organisations who have the highest profile at Strathclyde are those who maintain a continued presence and involvement over a period of time. A history of recruiting from Strathclyde is a very powerful recruitment tool, which will attract our best graduates. For more information please email:  employers@strath.ac.uk.
