Raise Your Profile

The University of Strathclyde is 'the place of useful learning' attracting many of the best qualified students in the West of Scotland. It is the third largest provider of full-time courses in Scotland with a strong reputation in science, engineering, business, arts, social sciences and education. Many of the UK's top employers express satisfaction with the high calibre of Strathclyde recruits.

We are happy to discuss your particular requirements but the following options may help to raise your profile at Strathclyde

  • Exhibit at the Scottish Graduate Fair - a two-day event in October each year at the Scottish Events Campus (SEC). Typically attended by around 3,500 students and graduates, mainly from Scottish universities, with approximately one third from Strathclyde

  • We support students in getting work experience. Employers can advertise internships and placements for students of earlier years via the CareerHub vacancy portal.

  • Part-time jobs and casual vacation work in the Greater Glasgow area are advertised via StrathUnion JobShop.  Part-time jobs and casual vacation work vacancies outside the Greater Glasgow area can be advertised via CareerHub.
  • Arrange a meeting with Careers Service staff to discuss your recruitment needs and how you can raise your profile at Strathclyde.

  • Consult Careers Consultants for an expert insight into the courses in their caseloads and opportunities for involvement in the academic curriculum

  • Sponsor Careers Service resources with your organisation's logo reproduced as appropriate. Successful initiatives to date include:

    • upgrading the signage in our resource centre
    • new equipment for use by students
    • employer logos on our publications.
  • Make a presentation

  • Host an Employer Workshop
Employer Workshops are run over lunchtimes in the Careers Service during October and November and again in early February. They usually run between 12noon – 2.00pm or 1.00pm – 3.00pm.  Workshops can cover topics such as Application Forms and Online Testing, Telephone/Video Interviews, Assessment Centres and/or Interviews and may be unique to your recruitment process.  If you would like to host an employer workshop, please email: employers@strath.ac.uk
  • Exhibit at our Law Fair, Pharmacy FairTechnology Fair or Internship Fair

  • Produce materials, in consultation with Careers Consultants, to enhance our students' occupational awareness, eg 'a day in the life of a ...' and other resources for our careers education activities

  • Use your Strathclyde alumni as role models within their former department or to lead case studies or skills training sessions. Current students identify very closely with alumni

These are some ideas which have proved successful for employers. Organisations who have the highest profile at Strathclyde are those who maintain a continued presence and involvement over a period of time. A history of recruiting from Strathclyde is a very powerful recruitment tool, which will attract our best graduates. For more information please email:  employers@strath.ac.uk.
