Computer & Information SciencesInternational students

Not only are we are top-rated department but Glasgow is also a friendly, welcoming city – that’s why our international students choose to study computer and information sciences at Strathclyde.

We’ve a strong community of international students and over half of students studying post-graduate taught degrees, come from overseas. Our students come from across Europe, Malaysia, India, China, Africa, the Middle East, USA, Canada and Brazil.

Here’s just some of the programmes we run for our international students:

Saudi Arabia

We have research agreements for PhD students with the following universities in Saudi Arabia:

  • Princess Nora
  • University King Abdulaziz
  • King Saud University

This allows female staff and students to complete Strathclyde PhDs without leaving their home institutions.

China

We visit China regularly to help provide articulation routes for Chinese students into our undergraduate degrees.

America

We've a large cohort of American students

We recently attended the American Library Association, Philadelphia, to support our Masters in Information and Library Studies course.

This course has a large cohort of North American students and our department has strong collaborations with the American Library Association, and the equivalent UK professional body CILIP.

Your future

Many of our overseas graduates return for further education or professional development. Some play an active role in shaping our degree programmes, contributing their experience to our teaching and curriculum design, through the Industrial Advisory Board.

Others form strong links with the Department's research groups, providing important industrial partners on collaborative projects.
