Dr Ying Fu

Strathclyde Chancellor's Fellow

Pure and Applied Chemistry

Personal statement

My research interests include novel biosensor development and application. My current research focuses on highly sensitive organic electronics integrated with microfluidics for real time monitoring, aimed at early diagnosis and effective therapy for various diseases.

Expertise

Has expertise in:

I have been working in the multidisciplinary field of biosensing. I design chemical interfaces for biosensors to enable selective and sensitive detection of various biomarkers, and thus can be used in clinical and medical applications. I also have expertise in Field Effect Transistors, especially Organic Electrochemical Transistors. I have used transistors to detect protein, glycan and microRNA biomarkers in cancer cells, and successfully  differentiate their expression levels with normal cells. In addition to extensive experience in Electrochemical methods, I also fabricated flexible bioelectronics and all the measurements can be done using a mobile phone.

I am always interested in establishing new collaborations with academics or industry.
