- This is an analytical non-destructive technique that can be used to determine the chemical composition of a wide variety of solid and liquid samples. XRF is a robust and fast technique for elemental analysis of materials of known or unknown composition. The equipment is able to provide rapid data without laborious sample and standards preparation and it is widely applicable across many diverse industries. The instrument was acquired from Shimadzu (model EDX-8100P) through an EPSRC Core Equipment fund, with total cost of £125,869 (EP/V034995/1). Electric fusion fluxer (X-Fluxer X-300) from Katanax and a mixer (8000M) and pelletizer (X-press 3666) from Spex were included in the system.
