Faculty of Engineering International Scholarships

We offer a number of scholarships for our undergraduate, postgraduate taught, and postgraduate research programmes. All self-funded, international (non-EU) fee-paying offer holders with strong academic qualifications are encouraged to apply. Please note - you must hold an offer to a full-time degree programme starting in the 2020/2021 academic year before your scholarship application will be considered.

If you're applying for an undergraduate degree programme, you'll receive a scholarship award equivalent to a 10% reduction of your tuition fees for each year of study. Your first year’s scholarship will be £2,100.*

Applicants for postgraduate taught degrees will receive a scholarship award of £3,150 deducted from your tuition fees.*

In addition to this, we also have a limited number of Dean’s International Excellence Awards. These scholarships are worth £5,000 and will be offered to exceptional applicants at postgraduate taught level only.

If you're applying for postgraduate research degree programme, you'll receive a scholarship award equivalent to a 15% reduction of your tuition fees for each year of study. Your first year’s scholarship will be £3,150.*

* The value of the undergraduate scholarship award is equivalent to a 10% reduction of your tuition fees for each year of study. This is typically £2,100 for programmes with a tuition fee of £20,900. The value of the postgraduate scholarship award is equivalent to a 15% reduction of your tuition fees for each year of study. This is typically £3,150 for programmes with a tuition fee of £20,900. The amount varies for selected programmes with a different tuition fee, including programmes within Architecture & Biomedical Engineering.

Lord Hope Postgraduate Scholarship Scheme

The Law School is delighted to announce the continuation of the Lord Hope Fund Postgraduate Scholarship Scheme.  Under this initiative, scholarships of between £500 and £2,000 each shall be available for applicants across our range of LLM/MSc programmes in the academic year 2019-20.   The awards will be granted on a competitive footing offered on the basis of both financial need and academic merit.
 
In addition to the financial award, the successful applicants shall also be invited to attend a celebratory dinner hosted by patron of the scheme and Emeritus Professor of the Law School, the Rt Honourable Lord Hope of Craighead KT, PC, FRSE.
 
The Rt Hon Lord Hope is the former Deputy President of the UK Supreme Court; former Lord President and Lord Justice General of Scotland, and former Dean of the Faculty of Advocates of Scotland. He is a former President of the Commonwealth Magistrates’ and Judges’ Association. He served as Chancellor of the University of Strathclyde (1998-2013). He currently serves as a cross-bench peer in the House of Lords of the UK Parliament.

The Allan and Nesta Ferguson Charitable Trust was set up in 1979 by their son and daughter in law, John and Elnora. Its objectives have closely followed the interests of the Ferguson family in their commitment to education, peace and development in the Third World. In 1997, the substantial holding of Taylor and Francis shares became valuable when the publishing company was floated, and its subsequent merger with Informa further enhanced the value of the shares in the Trust. Over the last 15 years, more than £30 million has been distributed to a range of charities working in the UK and overseas.

Carnegie Undergraduate Vacation Scholarship

Asylum Seeker Scholarship

The University has worked closely with the University of Strathclyde Students’ Association, Scottish Refugee Council and The Carnegie Trust in developing this Scholarship which is intended to help Asylum Seekers and those staying in the UK on humanitarian grounds to overcome barriers in progressing to higher education.

Strathclyde Research Studentship Scheme - Research Excellence awards (University REA)

The Research Excellence Awards are specific PhD projects that support the University’s strategic research ambitions. 

Under the Strathclyde Research Studentship scheme the University awards around 70 PhD studentships annually for students commencing their postgraduate studies. The funds are split between Research Excellence Awards, Student Excellence Awards and John Anderson Research Awards. Students successful in the 2020/2021 competition will commence studies in October 2020.

Carnegie Trust: St Andrew's Society Scholarships

For the academic year 2020-2021, the St Andrew's Society for the State of New York is offering two scholarships to Scottish students wishing to study for a postgraduate Masters in the United States. Each studentship will have a maximum value of $35,000 USD.

Mac Robertson Travelling Scholarship

Childcare Funding

Full-time eligible students attending University will be able to apply for help with registered childcare costs from the Childcare Fund. Children must be under 15, or under 17 if they have special educational needs. Childcare fund awards are in the form of a grant, paid to a childcare provider, and are in addition to any other funding a student receives.  Closing date 27 March 2020 or for MSc Students 29 May 2020.

AHRC aligned MRes / MPhil Awards
